Congratulations to all VVHS students and staff for achieving our API growth target. In the spring we will reward our students with the promised incentives. With our 08-09 restructuring schedule we have the necessary time to meet in our PLC groups, set goals, identify essential standards, create common assessments, analyze student data and implement new and improved teaching strategies. I am confident that with our consistent improvement and dedication to our students we will increase our CAHSEE passing rate and our CST scores. Let’s be the first high school to reach 700!!!!!!!!

We offered a new AP statistics course this year, which is already becoming a great success! Mr. Gilliatt, keep up the good work! Our other AP and honors courses are very popular and are preparing our students for post-secondary education. I expect that we will increase the number of AP and honors courses offered next year.

I know everyone works very hard and goes above and beyond their regular job duties, however I would like to give a special thanks to the following staff members: Our guidance department for scheduling our students and balancing our classes in such a timely manner and with all the challenges they face with I/C. Our attendance staff for learning all the duties expected of them with the new computer system. Our campus supervisors for creating and maintaining a safe, secure campus. They have been diligent in getting students into class on time. My administrative team for making the commitment and giving up their personal time to implement Saturday school. Mike Dolan, Bill Payne, Chris Lorenz and Jim Long for training our teachers on I/C. Marylin Williams for guiding and assisting our Read 180 teachers. All our department chairs for taking on the added responsibilities of their departments. Our Leadership Team, PLC leaders and facilitators and our focus group leaders for becoming teacher leaders. Thanks to everyone for making VVHS a great place to work!!

Sincerely,
Kristen Hunter
Principal
