Guidance Department
Recently the Guidance Department has been working on scheduling new students, class changes, balancing of teacher’s classes, developing a mission statement, and completing packets for Alternative Education.
Athletics
Fall sports have begun. Football, Volleyball, Girls’ Tennis, Boys and Girls’ Cross Country, Boys’ Water Polo and Girls’ Golf have begun practicing and regular games will begin the week of September 8
Focus of the Month -School Fighting Awareness
Citatations and arrests to be issued for school fighting
MVPD School Resource Officers will begin citing “mutual combatants” with citations or tickets, for section 415 (1) of the California Penal Code (fighting in a public place), which will require the fight participants and their parents to appear in court. Not only will citations be issued, but the school resource officer will arrest students and transport them to Juvenile Hall or the MVPD.

Athletics New May 16, 2008
Congratulations to the boys’ and girls’ swim teams for being co-champs with Canyon Springs.Valley View won all of the dual meets, but Canyon Springs won the Inland Valley League Finals.
Activities
Ron Raymond and his ASB staff have been working very hard to organize this years Prom. The prom will be held on April 26 at the Indian Wells Hyatt. The theme for the event this year is “An Evening Around the World.” Don’t miss it! Teachers are always welcome.
Science News
As we come to the end of the 2007-2008 school year the Science Department would like to take this opportunity to inform you about events that have occurred as well as provide some information to help your students successfully end this school year.
Athletics News
Spring sports are underway and representing Valley View very well. Boys’ Baseball is currently ( 3 – 1 ) in league and tied for first place with Vista del Lago and Canyon Springs.
Library
Something new at the Library. Check out our new Playaways. Playaways are recorded books on an Ipod-like player that are great for all students. Playaways are wonderful for remedial readers and English learners who will be able to follow along with a book. Reluctant readers will also enjoy the dramatization that Playaways provide. Each Playaway comes with a lanyard and batteries. Ear buds are available too or you may use your own. We have great titles to choose from, come on in and check them out yourself!
Valley View is Home to Super Bowl Mom
MORENO VALLEY – Moreno Valley Unified School District employee Mary Pierce had the opportunity of a lifetime when she attended Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Ariz. on February 3. Pierce’s son, Antonio, was a starting linebacker for the champion New York Giants.
